EARLY DRAFT EDITING

Content editing draws the most compelling story out of your draft as possible.  Your story and character development will be investigated for logic, clarity, consistency, depth, compelling progression, and more.

While content editing surface opportunities for rearrangement and/or rewriting, and full copy editing at this stage is ineffectual, some copy editing will naturally occur in every content edit.  As much copy editing will be done as possible insofar as it equips you to create a stronger draft when applying the content edit suggestions.

LATE DRAFT EDITING

Copy editing explores your draft for opportunities to improve stylistically and grammatically.  Comments will be made on logic, sentence structure, conciseness, wording choice, grammar, and spelling.

Some content editing appears in most copy edits, as the logic, consistency, and intrigue of your story and in the development of your characters will be considered and commented on as necessary.  However, only moderate content edit suggestions will be made; otherwise, a full content edit will be recommended.

FINISHING TOUCHES

With proofreading, your draft is strictly adjusted for grammar, spelling, and print alignment, if applicable.  This means that if you have an electronic copy of the print version of your manuscript, it will be edited for consistency in its running heads, page numbers, etc.

Additional comments may be made on logic, consistency, clarity, conciseness, wording choice, and style, etc., but extensive corrections of this nature will not be carried out.  Otherwise, a content edit or a copy edit will be recommended.
